Zynga subsidiary NaturalMotion is set to lay off an undisclosed number of employees across its US and UK offices.Â
According to Gamesindustry.biz, the redundancies are already happening, and the company has closed its Birmingham studio, which opened in 2019.Â
If cuts occur, a spokesperson said only a “small number of roles” would be affected. Another spokesperson stated they had no additional information to share beyond the current statement.
Imminent redundanciesÂ
“An important part of connecting the world through games is being committed to operating efficiently,” reads the statement via GI.Â
“As part of this effort, we have made the difficult decision to review our UK and US operations, which may impact a number of roles in the US and UK. We believe these changes will help to ensure that the studio is sustainable for the long term and aligned with our future development needs.”Â
In addition, NaturalMotion also stated that it does not expect any service disruptions for players during the transition and is committed to supporting affected employees “with the utmost consideration, respect, and care.”Â
Zynga’s parent company, Take-Two, recently announced its plans to lay off 580 staff by the end of the year.
